The aim of my project was to creat a 5 minute news program to be aired on my radio station, the content of which is aimed at an audience in their teens / early twentys. Therefore I had to devise some plausible news storys.
In order to do this I linked my news storys to things thataffect the general public in their every day lives, for example, I created a story bassed on the fact that this year is the 150th anniversary of the building of Big Ben in London, in which structural engineers had recently carried out servays on big ben, and deamed it structurally unsafe.
I also used an example of the things that affect us in our every day lives in the story I created about a drive by shooting at a shopping center. I also created a story about the oil supplies being cut off from Eraque to the western world, which highlighted the everyday concern to most people of how they are going to survive during the recession with sky high fuel prices.
In order to make my news project sound realistic I created it with the structure of an actual news broadcast, with an intro at the beginning containing brief outlines of the storys that were going to be covered in the program, I then went in to more detail about each story during the main body of the project.
I used a range of different forms of digital equipment in order to construct my project. I used a portable recorder to record all of the material for my vox pops and the outside report covering the drive by shooting. I then used sound forge to edit all of my vox pops and assemble them for their respective storys. I also used sound forge to edit the outside report and the finished project in order to make it fit the time frame while still making it sound as if it was done live.
While recording all of my different pieces I tried to capture the acoustic propertys of the different environments each of my news items were set in. For example, I used a courtyard to carry out an interview with a chief inspector about the shooting. This was to try and replicate a shopping precinct.
I feel that my news project would have attracted it’s audience because of the upbeat style of presenting during the links, while highlighting the seriousness of the story being addressed at the time the presenter kept a fairly fast paced presentation going during his links.
While making this project I feel that I addressed many of the general every day concerns that are highlighted in an actual news program that the general public have to deal with. I also feel that the construction of the final piece replicated the way in which a news program is generally constructed.
However, my news project was just over a minute longer than I had origionally planned it to be once I had compiled all of my material. I managed to shorten it by cutting out the vox pops for the big ben story. While I felt that these vox pops were relevant to the project, I felt that they were the only part of the project I could feasibly remove, due to the fact that I had a set of vox pops for the Fuel story and the outside report complete with an interview for the shooting story.

News Project Brief
I am going to create a 5 minute news report that contains 3 news items. The first of which is going to be on a local scale, the second on a national scale, and the third on a global scale.
The global news story will be set in Iraque, where the newly elected government have decided to restrict oil supplies to the west. This has meant that fuel prices all over the world have had to rise. With the credit crunch, at it’s worsed, people are struggling to make ends meet as energy prices rise.
This report will contain a short studio interview with a leading government spokes person in which ways to tackle the issue are discussed. It will also contain several clips of working class people who are struggling as a result of even higher food and fuel prices.
The national news story is about controversy over whether big ben in London is structurally unsafe. Recent surveys carried out on the structure of the clock tower have revealed that after 150 years of vibrations from the bells, there has been corrosion in the steal girders that help support the structure, making it potentially unsafe.
This report will contain a studio interview with one of the structural engineers, it will also contain the reactions from several Londoners after hearing this news.
The local news story is about a random shooting that has taken place at a retail park in Essex. This news story will consist mainly of an outside live report from an external reporter in which the studio presenter will ask leading questions about what went on.
This report will also contain a clip of an eye witness describing what they saw happen. I will also have a clip of a press conference with a local police officer, who will be talking about what they believe happened, how they are going about finding the person who carried out the shootings, and what the public can do in order to help them with their investigations.

Preliminary Project Proposal
I am going to create an introduction to a radio show. This introduction will begin with aStation ID for Shakedown 107 FM. This will then be followed by a jingle for my show, DJ Quartizer at Drive Time. I will be using sound forge to create both the Station ID and the drive time jingle. After I have played these I wil introduce my Guest.
My radio station is a dedicated Dance Music station that plays mostly Drum N Bass. My guest is going to be a world famus Drum N Bass DJ called The Mushroom T. He has after many years started making his own Drum N Bass records and my interview with him will be about how he got started making his records and is success.
The Clip that is played before I introduce the guest will be of him DJing in a club. I will use
